Standing on the cliff I look across to the sea
The sun sets on the left, an orange red sky ahead
Its darkening around me, I look across to the sea

There’s a ship in the horizon, I know its coming back
I await for the ship, To dock in the harbour
Sally’s in the ship, I know she’s coming back

The light fades and the night creeps in
I still await on the cliff, as the sun disappears
I stand still feeling the cool breeze in my face

The sound of waves breaking on the rocks reach my ears
A sound that echoes the feeling in my heart
Like a thousand stings I feel the sea on my face

The ship grows bigger ever so slow in the night
The lights are on on deck, People looking towards the shore
The horns blow as the ship takes a turn

With a cry of dismay I wave my arms to no avail
Without a second look the ship turns away
My ship, my Sally they sail away.

The moon’s out the cold wind blows
Shivering in the wind and hopes on the rocks
I still await for her, standing on the cliff.
