Mr. Big, An Energetic And Refreshing Concert Experience

True to the expectations, Mr. Big concert was a real experience in Hard Rock, Metal and Rock music. It was a very tightly packed 2 hour musical affair at Palace Grounds last Saturday.

First we went off to the Foster’s Art of Chilling Poolside party at Lalit Ashok. There we ate a lot of awesome Beef steaks and Pork ribs. Yummmmm!!!

Then we went off to Mr. Big concert. When the lights began to change Mr. Big started the concert with a song we didn’t expect – Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy. Wow. That was the beginning of a very energetic and lively rock concert. Some of the songs they played are from my previous post about songs I wanted to hear at the concert – notably Just Take My Heart, Colorado Bulldog (that was freakin’ awesome), Wild World (Of, course), Green Tinted Sixties Mind, To Be With You, and some other songs like Temperamental.

Some highlights of the concert:

1) Eric (the singer) turned 49 that day and celebrated his birthday on stage with other band members, and us, the crowd

2) Billy Sheehan (Bassist and Founding member) and Paul Gilbert (guitarist) showed their guitar prowess at various times between songs and with solo performances.

3) Billy Sheehan picked up the mike and gave his bass guitar to Eric and went on to sing a cover of Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water. Electric!!! Pat Torpey took the guitars while Paul took to drums for this part. Then Pat Torpey took the mike and started singing the remaining verse of Smoke on the Water. Very nicely done.

4) Mr. Bid did two encores… hehehehe. Anoop said they will definitely stay for two encores, and it came to pass. We loved it, even though we thought it weird :)

5) Above all, we got to enjoy an almost front seat after only paying for the 800 tickets. Why? Some rockers broke down the 800 / 1300 barrier for us. Ha ha ha ha ha!

What was my take out of the concert? 2 hours of non-stop rock, and lots of adventures before, during and after ;-)

A very low res video of Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert playing Guitar as if their lives depended on it :)

Freedom Jam Bangalore At Alliance Francaise

Freedom Jam is back, but not with a great bang as it was some years ago :-(

I remember a time when we used to party from 6 in the evening of Independance day till 6 in the morning on Independance day. And it used to happen at The Club on the outskirts of Bangalore city. There used to be so many bands playing all the time and it was no doubt the woodstock of Bangalore.

However, these days we have to settle down for a small but still energizing concert at Alliance Francaise.  The festival is presented by Bharat Mata Nach Kud Baja, who started the Freedom Jam concept. As usual, the concert is free and the bands play for free.

Bangaloreans, I will be there today after 4 PM. Will you?

Strange Love By Koop, Coke Ad Romance In The Library

Checked out the Coke Ad with two young people in the library? The one where coke flows from one person’s hand to another? Check it out below.

And the name of the haunting song? It is by a band called Koop consisting of an electronic jazz duo from Sweden and sung by Hilde Louise Asbjornsen. I just love this song. Check it out below:

Watch, listen, enjoy!!!

Heavy Metal Bloggers Meet – Bangalore

Wow! This is something I was dreaming of for a long time. And finally it has materialized.

It all started with Iron Maiden confirming dates for a repeat concert at Bangalore the coming February. I presume that Iron Maiden would like perform at Bangalore also what was done last year at Mumbai. Those things aside, I don’t care. Iron Maiden is playing in Bangalore and that is the end of it. Bloody awesome guys. And it will be the third time at a Maiden concert for me. Woo hoooooo…

The others were http://anw.in/2007/03/19/they-iron-maiden-came-they-played-they-rocked/ and http://anw.in/2008/02/04/iron-maiden-in-india-2008-they-played-they-rocked-again/

Last time we had a ball at 404 (our last bachelor pad) before the Maiden concert. Renie, Naveen, Anoop, Karthik, myself and a bunch of others spent a lot of time the previous evening writing banners for the concert. Watch the YouTube video where our banner was seen. And the pictures and a post about it at http://www.naveenroy.com/2007/05/iron-maiden-banner.html.

This time Karthik has proposed the Indiblogger Heavy Metal Blogger Meet and we would like to extend our party to all Heavy Metal fans who also happen to be bloggers. Neat!

And, did you guys see the IndiBlogger meeting badge?

Oasis Guitarist Noel Gallagher Attacked

More than the news about the attach, which I don’t give a damn for as long as Noel Gallagher is alive and can play guitar, the news by itself about the band was awesome. Why? Because Oasis is one if my favorite bands it is great to know that they are still around and playing concerts.

I mean it is quite some time since their last studio recorded album. So when I checked out Wikipedia I learnt that they are coming out with a brand new studio album in October this year. Wow.

Ah, yes, the news. Read more at Headbanger’s ball. Man, that was an awesome program. So bad and sad that we don’t get MTV2 in India.
