Mr. Big Concert At Palace Grounds In Bangalore, India

Mr. Big, one of my favorite rock bands when I was growing up, is playing at Palace Grounds, Bangalore on October 10th. Wow, this is an International concert and one that I have been dying to go to.

Bangalore, which has been hosts to a number of International acts like Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, INXS, Mark Knopfler, Roger Waters, Bryan Adams, and many more, is finally coming up with another International concert.  Mr. Big who belong to a very special rock genre named ‘shredder metal’ will be rocking angalore and some more cities in the North East of India. I’ve  always thought the North East of India are lucky to have some really obscure rock acts perform there when we never get to see them. But not this time. This time we are all equal :)

Why do I like Mr. Big? It’s because of their musical style which is a blend of blues style singing, neat guitar techniques and above all musical. Their most popular song would be “Wild World” which is an over played song on TV, Radio and on the Internet. However, there are quite a few other songs that I would love to hear them sing, notably

  • Wild World (of course :) )
  • Green Tinted Sixties Mind
  • To Be With You
  • Just Take My Heart
  • Ain’t Seen Love Like That
  • Promise Her The Moon
  • Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy (The Electric Drill Song)
  • Colorado Bulldog
  • Nothing But Love
  • Goin’ Where the Wind Blows

This is a concert to which you can bring your girlfriend or wife also with you. They are going to love the songs.

So, who’s gonna be there? I’ll be there with Nafisa. Yoo hoo hoo hooooooooooooo :)

What about you?

Freedom Jam Bangalore At Alliance Francaise

Freedom Jam is back, but not with a great bang as it was some years ago :-(

I remember a time when we used to party from 6 in the evening of Independance day till 6 in the morning on Independance day. And it used to happen at The Club on the outskirts of Bangalore city. There used to be so many bands playing all the time and it was no doubt the woodstock of Bangalore.

However, these days we have to settle down for a small but still energizing concert at Alliance Francaise.  The festival is presented by Bharat Mata Nach Kud Baja, who started the Freedom Jam concept. As usual, the concert is free and the bands play for free.

Bangaloreans, I will be there today after 4 PM. Will you?

Ask / Iah Meeting Bangalore And Some Cambodian Bettas

We were supposed to me at the monthly ASK / IAH (The Aquarist Soceity of Karnataka / Indian Aquarium Hobbyist) meeting at 9:30 AM today. But when I woke up it was already past 11. Woo! That was a good night’s sleep :) .

I still wanted to make it to the meet though. So I called up Shreyas (from IAH who has twins from the last 5 months) around 12 noon and asked if we can still make it. I suspected we could, so we were already dressed, hehehehe. Shreyas said the meeting was still on. So we got into our bikes and reached his house soon enough.

As usual, it was refreshing to be at an IAH meeting. Lots of digs at each other and ribbing around. Shreyas, the host, had a huge planted tank with fan tailed guppies and other fishes most notably some cardinal tetras. Really beautiful ones.

After a sumptuous lunch of bisilbelle bath (yeah, I did eat that), curd rice, rasam and more veg we broke up. At least Surya Niki, one of the IAH guys and owns a hobbyist aquarium shop in Indiranagar, wanted to leave. Since I had asked him for some microworms culture for my second betta fry, Nafisa and I left too.

When we reached his house we were surprised to see quite a few aquarium tanks. And he apparently loves Dwarf cichlids with quite a bunch of exotic fishes around. I am unable to name them since I am not so good at fish names.  But I do remember that he had some varieties of Rams.

When we were looking at his imported Cambodian, we came to know that he wanted to unload them and make way for a bigger breeding tank. So along with the Cambodian Bettas we also got to keep the tank. Wow! Thanks mate. After learning how to culture Micro worms and equipped with a starter culture of micro worms (for my betta fry or young ones) we made our way home.

When we came home we realised we needed some more plants. We had also got some plants and moss from Shreyas’ house earlier.  So we also made a trip tp the local fish store (LFS) for some sand, stones and live plants.

We also got a double tail betta splendens. Nice! Then after the weekly cleaning of fish tanks and bowls we planted the new tank.

It was a Sunday well spent.

More pictures at the IAH forum. By the way, Surya also gave us a pack of freeze dried blood worms. Amazing stuff. My betta fishes are going to be the most beautiful and colorful from now on with good food :) .

Another Fosters Art Of Chilling Party That Rocked Bangalore

Another Sunday, not this Sunday but last week, spent partying by the poolside. All thanks to Fosters and its Art of Chilling, perfected with lots of Fosters, barbecue, good people, music and hey that’s a party.

The one thing about this party was that I was able to tweet while partying on my blackberry. That felt nice. Check out the tweets at http://hashtags.org/tag/fosters/messages.

We came in early, for once, and we were joined by a few bloggers, Harish and Rachna. Then Sriharsha and one more blogger friend made a brief apppearance after which they had to run away. Then Bharath a new blogger from office dropped in with a girlfriend. And then we partied all evening, at least, till the party ended. Which we thought was never ;-) .

Since Manu had dropped in from Vellore for a brief visit it was all the more merrier with Nafisa, Anoop, Diana and me having a merry time.

I’ll leave you guys with a picture of Nafisa and I by the Fosters board. :) :) :)

Fosters Art Of Chilling Party Rocked Bangalore

So last Sunday was the Fosters art of chilling party in Bangalore. After covering so many other cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and others it was time to do this once again in Bangalore. Karthik, Anoop and Renie have been working hard with Fosters for some time now through IndiBlogger.in. And what best way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon than to party your brains out by the poolside?

Karthik, Nafisa and I reached Mercure Homestead at Koramangala, where the art of chilling party was planned at, some time after 1:00 PM. Our blogger friends (Sangfroid and his friend) had already reached and they were calling us. Shame on us. Next time we will be there much before you guys ;-) .

The weather was pleasantly warm and just right for a barbecue party by the pool. There were quite a few people inside and we went straight for the bar. Lots and lots of beer (thanks Fosters) and a decent barbecue helped all of us loosen up a bit.

Dancing to trance and club music was another ‘hit’ at the party. How good is a party without good music? The crowd was good, lots of women, swimming pool, bikinis, beer, music, organizers, etc. made the party worthwhile.
