Anwin – Me Myself and the World Around Me

Scenario:
Karthik calls me when I am at lunch. I am lunching with Anoop, Sanjeeb and Sreejith.

Conversation:
Phone rings…
Me: Hello, solluda (tell me)
Karthik: Dei (Tamil slang for hey), I need J’s number.
Me: Why?
Karthik: Just give bugger
Me: No. You tell me why. Then (emphasis) I’ll give.
Karthik: Kudunna kuda da vennai (If I say give, give bugger)
Me: Oh, ok. I will message her number to you.

Then I take my mobile to send her number. But I am quite pissed off with him for being rude on the call. So I discuss with my buddies and I decide to send someone else’s number to him. I am thinking of some girl’s number to give when we decide to give a guy’s number. So we give Sreejith’s number after some discussion.

So I am typing the email when he calls again. I tell him to keep the phone down so I can finish sending him the message. So message sent now.

After a minute or so Sreejith gets the call from Karthik.
Telephone Coversation: 

Sreejith: Hello!
Karthik: Can I speak to J?
Sreejith: Who is this?
Karthik: I am J’s friend. I want to speak to her.
Sreejith: Why you want to speak to her. You are the same guy who keeps calling her?
Karthik: No, I am her friend. I called her in the morning.
Sreejith: Oh, so you called her in the morning and already she is your friend?
Karthik: No I spoke to her in the morning and I want to speak to her now. So please give the phone to her.
Sreejith: Oh you are the guy who is disturbing her and giving prank calls?
Karthik: No. I am her friend. Now can I pleeeeeeeeeeease talk to her? Where is J?
Sreejith: Why do you want to know? I don’t know who you are.
Karthik: I am her friend. I want to speak to her. Whose number is this?
Sreejith: Its J’s number. So?
Karthik: Where is she now?
Sreejith: She is right beside.
Karthik: Please give the phone to her.
Sreejith: No. She does not want to speak to you.
Karthik: Please ask her.
Sreejith: (asking Sanjeeb nearby) No. She does not know you and she does not want to speak to you.
Karthik: No no. I am her friend. I spoke to her in the morning.
Sreejith: don’t ever call this number again.
Karthik: No no. Please pleaaaaaaaaaaaase. Pleaaaaaaaase listen to me. Pleaaaaaaaase.
Sreejith: (Keeps the phone down)

So we have lunch and we are unable to keep our laughter down.

In the meantime Karthik sends a message to Sreejith’s number. Verbatim: “Hey j what’s the problem? Who is that guy? Can you call me back? This is my tw number if you don’t have. Karthik”
Reply from Sreejith: “Any more prank calls or sms I will call the police. You can temperorly call on 49403839820. You shameless localite”

So we know that Karthik is shitting in his pants. He has no clue who the other person was. All this, when both telephone conversations happening with TV in the background (same program).

Evening, in the car. Anoop, Karthik and I are going back home by car. Midway he opens up about the aforementioned conversation.

His short version is that he called J and he got a cranky guy. And that he had to call N to confirm if J’s number is correct. So N it seems has said it was her old number and it was given to a friend. So Karthik figures that it maybe that guy. And then according to Karthik he had sent a strong message calling the other person “Jackass“. So we confirmed with Karthik if he really used that word. “Oh yes, definitely. I sent the message saying Jackass”. Those were his exact words. I swear!!!

At the end of the day he was never able to get in touch with J. And he has tall claims about what his side of the story was when he didn’t know we KNOW exactly what happened. Hehehehehe!!!

Moral of the story: “Don’t mess with the Chows.”
