More 3d Stereograms

s a follow up to my post on 3D stereograms, a new set.

What is it?

A stereogram is an optical illusion of depth created from flat, two-dimensional image or images. Originally, stereogram referred to a pair of stereo images which could be viewed using stereoscope. Other types of stereograms include anaglyphs and autostereograms. From Wikipedia.

So what?

Not only for fun but also used in Space explorations, has clinical, mathematical, scientific and engineering uses as well.

The below image is a superb example for a stereoscopic image and can be viewed using the cross-eyed method.

Below is an excellent example of an autostereogram. This can be viewed best using the ‘wall-eye’ method. That is the opposite of the cross eyed method.

Right Brained Or Left Brained?

Are you right brained or left brained? To rephrase the questions, which side of your brain do you use most?

Apparently, the twirling dancer – optical illusion, which I had blogged about some time back, can also show which side of your brain you use most. Or something to that effect.

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe
RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
“big picture” oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can “get it” (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

Twirling Dancer – Optical Illusion

Got this amazing optical illusion through BoingBoing.  Pretty neat. The dancer in the picture rotates in the clock-wise direction. Keep looking at her… and you suddenly see her dancing the anti-clockwise direction. Pretty neat and just an illusion after all. Fantabulous!!!
