David Attenborough Does Not Believe In Creation Theory

Hmm… extremely interesting. Nafisa (my wife) is going to love this.David Attenborough is Nafisa’s favorite naturalist and apparently he does not believe in Creation Theory.

Sir David Attenborough has revealed that he receives hate mail from viewers for failing to credit God in his documentaries.

Attenborough went further in his opposition to creationism, saying it was “terrible” when it was taught alongside evolution as an alternative perspective. “It’s like saying that two and two equals four, but if you wish to believe it, it could also be five … Evolution is not a theory; it is a fact , every bit as much as the historical fact that William the Conqueror landed in 1066.”

From Wikipedia, Sir David Frederick Attenborough (IPA: /ˈætnb(ə)rə/) OM, CH, CVO, CBE, FRS (born 8 May 1926 in London, England) is a broadcaster and naturalist. His career as the respected face and voice of British natural history programmes has endured for more than 50 years.

What is Creation Theory?

From Wikipedia, Creationism is the religious belief that humanity, life, the Earth, and the universe were created in their original form by a deity (often the Abrahamic God of Judaism, Christianity and Islam) or deities.

So what is all this fighting about?

There are two factions here – one comprises of people with religious belief that all life was created by a superpower, God. The other faction follows Science and they believe in the Evolution Theory put forth by Charles Darwin.

Anwin’s personal view:

I personally do not believe in Creation Theory at all. Period. I fail to understand how otherwise very intelligent people can even consider that there may be a God who “created” everything in 7 days. People are not ready enough to understand that at the time the Bible was written, especially in the beginning of the Genesis book,

  1. People had very little understanding of nature and the earth. So misconceptions were natural.
  2. There were no written records at that time. Stories were repeated by word from generation to generation until someone thought to write it down which eventually got included in the Bible. As word of mouth stories go everyone knows how a story can be easily twisted at every turn.

There is more from where this comes from. But I will digress for another day.

Church Of England To Apologize To Darwin

Wow. Is this a new strategy to win over ‘lost sheep’ like me or is it a real apology. It could be a real apology. But the cynic in me is a bit less trusting sometimes, you know.

I mean, isn’t that huge? The Church actually apologizing to Darwin for their initial reaction to Evolution Theory! Whatever it is, I welcome it. It is high time the Church has come forward to put things into perspective to neo Christians who are totally confused if it was God or was it evolution.

The Church of England will concede in a statement that it was over-defensive and over-emotional in dismissing Darwin’s ideas. It will call “anti-evolutionary fervour” an “indictment” on the Church”.

The apology, which has been written by the Rev Dr Malcolm Brown, the Church’s director of mission and public affairs, says that Christians, in their response to Darwin’s theory of natural selection, repeated the mistakes they made in doubting Galileo’s astronomy in the 17th century.

Mangalore And A Prayer

Attended Naveen’s wedding at Mangalore. It was great. But more on that later. This post is about me and how I prayed at St. Aloysius Chapel in Mangalore. Ok…not much of a but a picture really.

Hehehe…I know. Sacrilege.

But fun apart, the chapel was amazing with beautiful murals all over the walls including on the ceiling. It was like walking into a dark ages catholic “cult” chapel. Only the priests in robes were missing. But in my imagination I could see.

Before visiting the chapel we had also visited a temple, but the name eludes me. All I know is it was in Kadri and goes something like Manjunateswara temple of something. We were told to visit the caves which were supposedly awesome. I am really not sure if we were at the right place, but you can see Renie inside one “cave”. Hehehehe.

The huge Hanuman in the temple apparently trained along with Arnie (Arnold Schwarzenegger).

The temple was also quite interesting. My whole point in visiting these places was to know a bit of Mangalore history. The monuments hold a lot of history and culture in their walls and sculptures. Quite interesting.

And then, of course, one picture of Nafisa and I to close the post.
